FLUCONAZOLE (Diflucan, Celozole) is used to treat fungal infections, including yeast infections of the vagina, mouth, throat, esophagus (tube leading from the mouth to the stomach), abdomen (area between the chest and waist), lungs, blood, and other organs. Fluconazole is also used to treat meningitis (infection of the membranes covering the brain and spine) caused by fungus. Fluconazole is also used to prevent yeast infections in patients who are likely to become infected because they are being treated with chemotherapy or radiation therapy before a bone marrow transplant (replacement of unhealthy spongy tissue inside the bones with healthy tissue). Fluconazole is in a class of antifungals called triazoles. It works by slowing the growth of fungi that cause infection.

DESCRIPTION

Fluconazole is also sometimes used to treat serious fungal infections that begin in the lungs and can spread through the body and fungal infections of the eye, skin and nails. Fluconazole is also sometimes used to prevent fungal infections in people who are likely to become infected because they have human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) or cancer or have had a transplant operation (surgery to remove an organ and replace it with a donor or artificial organ). PACKAGING

FLUCONAZOLE comes in the form of capsules for oral administration:

150 mg - 4 caps/pack.



Active ingredients:

Fluconazole - 150 mg.



Excipients:

Lactose monohydrate - 138.8 mg, corn starch - 49.0 mg Povidone K-17 (low molecular weight polyvinylpyrrolidone) - 7.0 mg calcium stearate - 3.0 mg colloidal silicon dioxide - 1.5 mg sodium lauryl sulfate - 0.7 mg.

Hard gelatin capsules No. 0: titanium dioxide - 2.0%, gelatin - up to 100%.

DOSAGE

Adults and children over 15 years of age (body weight over 50 kg) for cryptococcal meningitis and cryptococcal infections of other sites on the first day are usually prescribed 300 mg (2 capsules 300 mg), and then continue treatment at a dose of 150 mg - 300 mg once a day. The duration of treatment for cryptococcal infections depends on the clinical efficacy confirmed by mycological examination with cryptococcal meningitis, the treatment should be at least 6-8 weeks.



To prevent the recurrence of cryptococcal meningitis in AIDS patients, after completing the full course of primary therapy, fluconazole is prescribed at a dose of 150 mg/day for a long period of time.



For candidemia, disseminated candidiasis and other invasive candidal infections, in the first 24 hours the dose is 300 mg, and then 150 mg/day. With insufficient clinical efficacy, the dose of the drug can be increased to 300 mg/day. The duration of therapy depends on the clinical efficacy of the drug (100% of the recommended dose).

SIDE EFFECTS AND PRECAUTIONS

Digestive system: loss of appetite, change in taste, nausea, diarrhea, flatulence, abdominal pain, vomiting, abdominal pain. Rarely: liver dysfunction activity, aspartate aminotransferase and alkaline phosphatase.



Nervous system: headache, dizziness, excessive fatigue. Rarely: convulsions.



Blood formation organs: rarely leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, agranulocytosis.



Allergic reactions: skin rash. Rarely, exudative erythema multiforme, toxic epidermal necrolysis, anaphylactoid reactions.

STORAGE

Store in dry place at room temperature. Do not exceed storage temperature higher than 25 degrees Celcius. Keep away from direct sunlight. Keep locked and away from children.
