VALERIAN (Valeriana officinalis, Caprifoliaceae) is a natural herbal medicine and has a sedative effect on the brain and nervous system. It is mostly common prescribed for sleep disorders. The medication is also used for conditions associated with anxiety and psychological stress including nervous asthma, hysterical states, hypochondria, headaches, migraine and stomach upsets. Valerian is prescribed for children with attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

The active principal of Valerian is a compound ester of borneol and isovaleric acid. This medication has a mild sedative effect which comes slow but is relatively long-lasting. Valerian also has a spasmolytic effect on gastrointestinal smooth muscles. Valerian enhances the effect of other spasmolytics, hypnotic and sedative medications.
Valerian comes in liquid form in a 25ml medicine bottle.
To be taken before meals mixed with some still drinking water.
Adults: 20-30 drops, 3-4 times a day.
Children: same number of drops as the age of the child, 2-3 times a day.
